Sales Strategy Planning for 2017
Because if You Fail to Plan…
You plan to fail. Yes, it’s cliche’, but cliche’s often have the annoying habbit of being true.
In the several years I’ve been working with hundreds (and networking with thousands) of small business owners, I haven’t met a single one who didn’t know that planning for their business growth was important.
However, when it came to laying out those plans… it was a different story.

3 Obstacles to Planning Your Annual Sales Strategy
Planning sales strategy for the year is fairly simple and straigtforward:
What am I selling? Who am I selling it to? How am i going to sell it to them? When do I want it to close?
It’s not always easy, though. Here are the top three reasons:
- Lack of Time
- Lack of Process
- Lack of Guidance
Lack of Time is seemingly the epidemic of our age. You may know exactly what you need to do. You know who you want to target, what the message is, how to deliver it to them, how to close them, and how to make them happy, raving fans. But executing all of that is difficult when it’s floating around in your head. If you don’t map it out on a calendar to follow, it’s not likely to happen.
Lack of Process may be a little misleading. Everyone has a process for planning. A lot of people just don’t really like their process. Maybe they were never taught a process, or maybe they’ve just relied on marketing vendors making the choices for them (and it hasn’t turned out well). Regardless, if the process for planning sales strategy is cumbersome or non-existent, it’s not likely to happen.
Lack of Guidance doesn’t really exist. At least that’s what we like to tell ourselves. No one like to admit they need a littel direction here and there, but the odd reality is that as social creatures, we actually do need feedback and validation from others. Until we’ve achieved a level of mastery at something, we tend to doubt ourselves. And if we doubt our ability to plan a solid sales strategy… it’s not likely happen.

3 Things We’re Going to Give You at the 2017 Sales Strategy Planning Workshop
- Guidance and Feedback
Suprising, I know.
Time. What are you doing on the Monday afternoon before Christmas? For some business owners, this is the craziest time of the year. This workshop is not for them (they can check back in June). For others, though, there’s not better time to take an afternoon to work on your business. You’ll have a structured time in a great environment to plan.
Process. Together, we’re going to walk through the six stages of your sales stragegy for one of your key products or services. No, I’m not promising we’ll be able to plan for the entire scope of your business in one afternoon. You will leave with at least one, and once you learn the process, you’ll be able to apply to everything you plan to sell in 2017.
Guidance and Feedback. You know what I hate about workshops? There may be great information, and it’s cool to learn from other people, but there’s never time to answer all of my questions, and once the workshop is over, it’s over. Not with this one. Every attendee is giong to also have a 1 to 1 strategy session with me after the workshop. We’ll take 45 minutes to go over you plan in detail, answer the questions you have, and give you personalized recommendations specific to your business. A full strategy session with me is $350. So this alone makes the workshop worthwhile.
